Terms and Conditions
Booking and Payment. A non-refundable 25% deposit is required to secure your booking, with a minimum payment amount of £25. The balance must be paid at least 28 days before commencement of the activity. If your payment is not received by this date you may lose your booking. If your activity is due to take place in less than 28 days then full payment is required. Payment methods will be detailed on your invoice.
Cancellation by you. Please notify us by email as soon as possible if you need to cancel your booking. If you cancel more than 28 days before the activity, payment will be refunded less the deposit. If you cancel less than 28 days before the activity no refund will be issued.
Cancellation by us. In the unlikely event that we have to cancel your activity then you will be refunded in full. We are not liable for any additional costs which you may have incurred, such as transport or accommodation. We recommend that you take out appropriate travel insurance to cover these.
Alteration. Booked plans may need to be adjusted on the day for safety reasons, for instance when adverse mountain weather conditions prevail. In such circumstances our leaders will work to deliver a rewarding hill day which meets your objectives, but we can not guarantee that we will be able to complete specific routes or reach particular summits on a given day. Leader’s decisions are final.
Safety. Outdoor activities carry an inherent risk. We minimise this through employment of professionally qualified leaders and rigorous risk assessment, but a degree of risk will always remain. You must read and acknowledge the Mountaineering Scotland participation statement prior to commencement of any activity:
Mountaineering Scotland recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
Your leader will gave a safety brief for the activities being undertaken. You must abide by their instructions and respect decisions they make on the ground.
Medical. You will be required to complete a medical declaration that you are physically fit enough to undertake your chosen activity and detailing any medical conditions or injuries which might affect your performance or safety during your activity. If you are in any doubt you should consult your doctor. This information will be shared with your activity leader. You must inform your leader of any new medical condition or injury which may affect your abilities prior to commencement of the activity.
First Aid. There will be a suitably qualified first aider available at all time during your activity.
Fitness. If you have any doubt about your ability to complete a particular trip please get in touch. Whilst we can accommodate varying fitness levels, we need to ensure that it does not adversely impact on the experience of others in the group.
Equipment. The clothing and equipment detailed on the website helps to ensure your safety and comfort. You must provide your own equipment unless the loan of specific items has been agreed in advance. If you turn up on the day missing any essential items you will not be able to participate if the leader deems that to do so would jeopardise the safety of yourself or the other participants. Please treat any loaned equipment with care and respect.
Insurance. David Murray Greer holds public liability insurance with an indemnity limit of five million pounds. You should consider taking out your own insurance against accidental injury or death. If you hold life assurance or other relevant policies you should confirm that your activity is not subject to an exclusion clause.
Alcohol. If you are intoxicated then you will not be allowed to partake in any activity.
Media. Leaders will occasionally take pictures and video clips. Please inform your leader if you do not wish to have images used on the website, social media or any other form of advertising.
Personal Data. We will only ask you to provide personal information necessary to deliver your activity. Your contact details, and those of your emergency contact, will be passed to your leader to co-ordinate on the day of your activity. We may use your email address to pass on information about future events, although you can opt out at any stage.
Young People. Young people under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by their parent or legally appointed guardian.
Feedback. On conclusion of your activity you’ll receive an online feedback form. Your feedback is hugely useful and we’d be very grateful if you could spare the time to complete it. If there are any issues during your activity please do let us know straight way, so we can work to rectify them immediately.
Legal. Scots Law shall govern the contract.
